The Goshen RedHawks baseball team advanced to their 3rd straight sectional championship on Saturday afternoon with a 5-0 victory over the Concord Minutemen. Senior Kyan Miller pitched the complete game shut out to lead the RedHawks to victory. Miller allowed only 2 hits, 2 walks and struck out 8 batters on the day. Goshen jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the 1st inning when Braxton Cline got a 2 out base hit. He rounded first base and was able to stretch it to a double when the Concord outfielder did not get the ball in quick enough. The next batter was Kyan Miller who hit a ball to short stop, the Minutemen shortstop made a tough back handed play and over threw first base to score Cline. The game remained 1-0 until the top of the 6th inning. Colton Rapp led the inning off with an in-the-park homerun when the Concord right fielder misplayed the fly ball. When the ball dropped, Rapp was able to make it around the bases to extend the lead to 2-0 heading into the bottom of the 6th. Miller kept the Minutemen off balance and cruised through the 6th. Goshen was able to extend their lead in the top of the 7th with some insurance runs. Jaxon Miller reached on an error with 2 outs. Cline was able to hit a double to the fence to bring in Jaxon Miller to extend the lead to 3-0. Kyan Miller walked to give runners on 1st and 2nd. Cline and Miller stole bases to get to 2nd and 3rd before Colton Rapp drove both of them in with a double to give Goshen the 5-0 lead. Kyan Miller closed out the 7th inning to give Goshen the win and a sectional championship matchup against the Northridge Raiders. That game is set to take place on Monday June 2 at 6pm. The game will be played at Northridge High School.
