The Goshen RedHawks baseball team dropped their final regular season game by a score of 4-3 in South Bend against the St. Joseph Huskies. Goshen finishes their regular season with a record of 9-13. Bray Hoag pitched another great game on the mound as he split the game with Bryson Wilson. Hoag started the game and pitched 2.2 innings allowing 2 runs on 5 hits and 4 walks. Hoag was able to pitch out of a few problems early to keep the game scoreless. Bryson Wilson came in and pitched 3.1 innings allowing 2 runs on 4 hits and 2 walks with 2 strikeouts. The RedHawks started the game with pressure on the Huskies in the 1st inning when Quinn Shreiner Landes led the game off with a hit by pitch. He was bunted to 2nd base by Jaxon Miller and then got to 3rd base on a Kyan Miller ground out. Colton Rapp hit a fly ball to the back of the infield that was caught by the shortstop to end the 1st. In the bottom of 3rd, St. Joe was able to open the scoring. A single and a bunt led to a few walks and produced 2 runs to give the Huskies a 2-0 lead after 3 innings. St. Joe pushed across 1 more run in the 4th inning to extend the lead to 3-0. Goshen fought back in the top of the 5th inning. Karter Marcum and Bryson Wilson led the inning off with back to back singles. After an unsuccessful sacrifice bunt and then a walk by Jaxon Miller the RedHawks had the bases loaded with 1 out. Braxton Cline hit a hard ground ball but Marcum was thrown out at the plate. Kyan Miller came up with 2 outs and bases loaded and delivered with a hard single to right field. The Huskies right fielder misplayed the ground ball and the RedHawks were able to bring in all 3 base runners on the play to tie the game. St. Joe got the bases loaded in the 6th inning with no outs and looked to be breaking the game open. Bryson Wilson was able to induce a shallow fly out to make it 1 out with bases loaded. The next St. Joe batter his a fly ball to the outfield to score the go ahead run to give the Huskies a 4-3 lead. Goshen had 1 more chance in the top of the 7th. Cline led the inning off with a double but was doubled up on a hard line drive off the bat of Kyan Miller to the St. Joe 2nd baseman. St. Joe was able to get the RedHawks out to end the game 4-3. Goshen now looks to the Class 4A Northridge Sectional. The RedHawks will take on the winner of the Warsaw/Concord matchup. Warsaw and Concord play at 6:00pm on Wednesday night and Goshen will play the winner of that game on Saturday morning directly following the Elkhart/Northridge game. All games will be played at Northridge High School.
