Varsity Baseball Drops NLC Finale to Northwood

The Goshen RedHawks dropped their final NLC game of the season by a score of 4-2 on Wednesday night at the hands of the Northwood Panthers. Goshen finishes the NLC season 6-8 and they are 9-11 on the season. Kyan Miller took a difficult loss on the mound allowing 0 earned runs on 2 walks and 7 strikeouts. Goshen got off to a hot start in the 1st inning. Jaxon Miller got on base with a 1 out walk and then scored on a Braxton Cline triple. Cline later scored on a double from Colton Rapp to give the RedHawks a 2-0 lead. Northwood pushed 1 run across in the bottom of the inning and 1 more in the 2nd inning to tie the game 2-2. The game remained tied into the bottom of the 5th when Northwood was able to score another run to give the Panthers a 3-2 lead. Northwood led off that inning by reaching on an error and then sacrificing that runner to 2nd base who later scored on a single. Goshen had a final chance in the last inning to tie the game up when Braxton Cline reached on a dropped 3rd strike and Kyan Miller singled to get the tying run on base and the go ahead run at the plate. Colton Rapp represented the tying run at the plate but struck out to end the game. The RedHawk offense was once again led by Braxton Cline and Kyan Miller who each had a hit. Cline and Colton Rapp each had an RBI as well. Cline and Miller end NLC play with batting averages over .400 and combined for 24 RBIs in 14 NLC games. *Game Note* Goshen and Northwood started the night completing a game that was suspended due to poor weather. Goshen was down 9-4 in the bottom of the 7th inning when the game was suspended. The game was completed at the beginning of the night when Northwood struck out 2 batters in a row to finish the game.
