The Goshen RedHawks jumped out to an 11 run first inning and didn't look back on their way to a 15-3 victory over the Concord Minutemen on Friday night in just 5 innings. Kyan Miller pitched a complete game on the mound to pick up the victory allowing 3 runs on 9 hits and 5 strikeouts. The top of the first inning was highlighted by a great play between Braxton Cline and Spencer Elliott. Cline fielded a difficult backhand in the hole with a runner on 2nd and made a throw to Elliott on the run to make a sliding tag at 3rd to get a runner trying to advance. Miller struck out the next batter to close the inning. In the bottom of the first, the bats continued where the defense left off. After getting the lead off batter out the RedHawks produced 12 base runners in a row. 6 of the 12 base runners were extra base hits. The highlight of the inning was a 2 run home run by Colton Rapp to extend an already 2-0 lead to 4-0. Braxton Cline, Kyan Miller, Jensen Meikle, Bryson Wilson, and Cline again all contributed to those doubles. By the end of the inning, Goshen was ahead 11-0. Concord pushed a run across in the top of the 1st inning but grounded into an inning ending double play when Spencer Elliott fielded a ball at 3rd, stepped on the bag and threw to Marcum to end the threat. Quinn Shreiner Landes scored Karter Marcum on the double in the 2nd to give the RedHawks a 12-1 lead. The offense continued in the 3rd when Cline and Kyan Miller went back to back with doubles to give Goshen a 13-2 lead and Bryson Wilson walked to drive in a runner for a 14-2 lead. Finally, Shreiner Landes was hit by a pitch to score the final RedHawk run of the night. It was senior night and the RedHawk seniors all had excellent nights. Kyan Miller pitched the complete game on the mound and picked up the win, he also drove in 4 runs and had 3 hits of his own. Quinn Shreiner Landes had 1 hit, 1 RBI, and scored a run. Kaden Witty had 1 hit, scored a run, and had 1 RBI as well. Goshen returns to NLC action on Monday when they travel to Syracuse to take on the Wawasee Warriors at 5:30pm. Goshen's overall record improved to 8-9 (5-6 NLC).
