It was all Ryen Diaz on Monday night for the Goshen RedHawks baseball team. Diaz pitched a complete game shut out to defeat the Mishawaka Cavemen at Mishawaka. RedHawks won the game 3-0. Diaz started the first inning off by allowing a double but then fielded a popped up bunt by the Cavemen and threw the runner out at 2nd. The very next play he fielded a line drive at him to record the 3rd out of the inning. Diaz only needed some help for his offense after that. The score was 0-0 heading into the 5th inning when Jensen Meikle and Colton Rapp each drew walks. Karter Marcum then reached on an error to load the bases. Bray Hoag hit a sacrifice fly to right field to score Rapp. This put the RedHawks ahead 1-0. The 6th inning saw the offense come alive again when Quinn Shreiner Landes singled then stole 2nd base. Braxton Cline drove him in on a single of his own to give Goshen a 2-0 lead. Cline would later score on a Jensen Meikle sacrifice fly to extend the lead to 3-0. Diaz took care of the rest. He got the last 6 outs of the game to finish his complete game on the mound. He ended the evening pitching all 7 innings, allowing 3 hits, 0 runs, 4 walks, and struck out 7 Cavemen batters. Goshen improved their record to 7-8 and their conference record to 4-5. They'll continue NLC play on Wednesday when they travel to Plymouth to take on the Pilgrims at 5:30pm.
