The Goshen RedHawks fell to the Warsaw Tigers on Friday night by a score of 8-3. This dropped their overall record to 5-8 (3-5 NLC) for the year. Bray Hoag took a loss on the mound, dropping his season record to 0-2. He pitched 4 innings, allowing 4 runs on 2 walks and struck out 1 batter. Bryson Wilson finished the final 3 innings allowing 4 runs on 3 hits and 1 walk. Warsaw jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the 3rd inning when they put together 3 straight hits and a sacrifice fly. The RedHawks fought back in the bottom of the inning to push 2 runs of their own across. Spencer Elliott led the inning off with a single, was bunted to 2nd by Karter Marcum and then scored on a Bryson Wilson single. Wilson moved to 2nd on a single from Jaxon Miller and then scored on a Braxton Cline RBI single to cut the lead to 3-2. Warsaw scored another run in the 4th and then loaded the bases with just 1 out, but Bray Hoag was able to induce a ground ball double play between Braxton Cline and Jensen Meikle to minimize damage and keep the score at 4-2. Unfortunately, for Goshen the game broke open in the 5th inning when Warsaw loaded the bases with no outs, Bryson Wilson overthrew his catcher on a ground ball that plated 2 more runs and Warsaw ended the inning by scoring 4 runs total, bringing the score to 8-2. The RedHawks tried to climb back in the game in the 6th when Jensen Meikle grounded out to score Braxton Cline after a Kyan Miller single and Kaden Witty single, cutting the lead to 8-3. The game would end at that score. Goshen returns to action Saturday morning when they host Westview for a single game beginning at 10am at home.
