Varsity Baseball Walks It Off Against Wawasee

It took 8 innings, but the Goshen Varsity Baseball team improved to 5-6 (3-3 NLC) on Friday night when they defeated Wawasee 3-2. The game was tied 2-2 in the bottom of the 8th inning when Karter Marcum singled in Quinn Shreiner Landes to win the game. Goshen was led by their pitching staff on Friday night. Bray Hoag started the game and pitched 5 innings allowing only 2 hits and 1 run while striking out 7 Wawasee batters. Bryson Wilson picked up the win on the mound pitching 3 innings allowing 1 run on 2 hits and striking out 5 batters. The offense was held scoreless for the first 5 innings but finally broke through in the bottom of the 6th. Braxton Cline led the 6th inning off with a triple and scored on a double steal. Colton Rapp scored later in the inning on a passed ball. Cline ended the night with 2 hits to lead the offense. Jaxon Miller, Colton Rapp, Karter Marcum, and Jensen Meikle also tallied a hit for the offense. The Goshen RedHawks are back in action Monday night when they host Northwood for another NLC matchup. That game is set to begin at 5:30pm.
