Varsity Baseball Advances to Sectional Championship

The Goshen Varsity baseball team defeated Northridge by a score of 8-2 on Saturday morning. Ryen Diaz pitched a complete game, 4 hitter and held Northridge to just 2 runs on the day. Diaz had 4 strikeouts and only 2 walks. The RedHawks were the visitors on the scoreboard and jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the 1st inning. Caelan Miller was driven in by Kyan Miller’s RBI single. Goshen’s bats heated up for 6 runs in the 2nd inning to extend the lead to 7-0. All of the RedHawks runs in the 2nd inning came with 2 outs. The big hit of the afternoon came when Quinn Shreiner Landes hit a bases loaded triple to drive in 3 runners and break the game open. Goshen extended the lead to 8-0 in the 5th inning on an RBI single from Braxton Cline to drive in Bryson Wilson. Northridge scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 5th inning, but Diaz was able to hold the Raiders scoreless for the remainder of the game. Goshen will face Concord in the 4A Sectional Championship on Monday afternoon. The game is slated to start at 11am. Goshen will be the visitors, while Concord will be the home team.
