The Goshen RedHawks (9-13, 5-8 NLC) defeated Wawasee 2-1 on Tuesday night thanks to a masterful game on the mound from starting pitcher Kyan Miller. Miller pitched 8 innings, allowing only 1 unearned run and striking out 10 Warrior batters. Miller started the game with 3 strikeouts in the first inning and didn’t slow down from there. The game was scoreless until the 4th inning when Bryson Wilson reached on an error and then was driven in by Kyan Miller on a sacrifice fly to give the RedHawks a 1-0 lead. The score held there until there were 2 outs in the top of the 7th inning and Wawasee was down to their last out. They were able to single in a runner from second base to tie the game at 1. The game stayed tied until the bottom of the 8th inning. In the bottom of the 8th, Bryson Wilson got a 1 out single and advanced on an error to second base. He then moved to 3rd on a past ball. Braxton Cline was able to hit a single up the middle to walk off the game and give the RedHawks a 2-1 victory. Wilson, Cline, and Kaden Witty all recorded multiple hits on the evening to lead the RedHawk offense. They will wrap up NLC play tomorrow (Wednesday) night when they host Northwood for senior night. The 4 senior baseball players that will be reconginzed before the game will be Payton Bontrager, Damian Castillo, Jace Hershberger, and Caelan Miller. That game is set to begin at 5:30pm.
