The Goshen RedHawk baseball team (8-12, 4-7 NLC) won in dramatic fashion on Wednesday night with an 8-7 victory over the Plymouth Pilgrims. After losing the last 3 games on walk off plays, Goshen returned the favor when Bryson Wilson drove in Damian Castillo to seal the victory for the home team. Goshen got off to a great start, retiring the Pilgrims in the top of the 1st inning. In the bottom of the inning Caelan Miller led off with a double and later scored when Braxton Cline hit a double as well. Plymouth came roaring back scoring 5 unanswered runs and taking a 5-1 lead heading into the bottom of the 3rd inning. The RedHawks got one of those runs back in the bottom of the 3rd when Quinn Shreiner Landes scored on a Kyan Miller double. Plymouth gained 2 runs back in the 5th inning to extend their lead to 7-2. That is where the scoring for the visitors would stop. Quinn Shreiner Landes scored 2 RedHawks in the 5th inning with a double to cut the deficit to 7-4. Colton Rapp would then drive in a run on a ground out to score Shreiner Landes, making the score 7-5. The score would remain there until the bottom of the 7th inning. Kyan Miller led the inning off with a single, followed by a Damian Castillo single. Payton Bontrager came through with another single, and after a strikeout, the RedHawks had the bases loaded with 2 outs. Senior Caelan Miller singled to drive in two runners and tie the game. After a scoreless 8th inning for both teams and a scoreless top of the 9th inning for Plymouth, Goshen was able to come through with Bryson Wilson ending the game with a single to score Castillo. Ryen Diaz picked up the win on the mound, pitching a scoreless 9th inning and a strikeout. Jace Hershberger and Jensen Meikle also pitched for Goshen. Meikle was able to come in relief to pitch 3.1 scoreless innings after some difficult hits and runs were scored off Hershberger. Goshen travels to Dunlap on Friday to take on Concord. That game will begin at 5:30pm.
