The Goshen Varsity baseball team (7-10, 3-6 NLC) dropped a heart breaker at Warsaw on Friday night by a score of 6-5. Warsaw jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 2nd inning off Ryen Diaz who started on the mound for the RedHawks. That would be the only run he gave up in 4.2 innings pitched. He was able to scatter 3 hits, 4 walks, and 2 strikeouts for the RedHawks. The offense was able to take the lead in the 5th inning when Braxton Cline hit a double down the line to score Payton Bontrager. Cline later scored to give the RedHawks a 2-1 lead entering the 6th inning. In the bottom of the 6th, Warsaw was able to score 4 runs to take a 5-2 lead off Jensen Meikle who pitched 1.1 innings allowing 4 runs and striking out 3 batters. The game looked to be in hand for the Tigers, but Goshen was able to come back to tie the game in the top of the 7th. Kaden Witty led the inning off with a double and the offense followed suit by getting 5 of the next 6 batters on base. Witty, Caelan Miller, and Braxton Cline all scored for the offense in the inning to tie the game. Cline drove in multiple runs in the game and also scored 2 runs. In the bottom of the 7th inning, Quinn Shreiner Landes came in to pitch. He struck out 1 batter and allowed 2 hits including a walk off hit for the Warsaw Tigers to give them the victory. Goshen is back in action Saturday morning when they travel to Westview at 10am.
