Varsity Baseball Loses to Northridge

The Goshen RedHawks lost Wednesday night to Northridge by a score of 5-3. Jace Hershberger picked up a tough loss on the mound allowing only 3 earned runs and striking out 7 Northridge batters. Hershberger gave up 0 runs in the first 3.2 innings. Quinn Shreiner Landes came in to pitch and allowed no runs in 2.1 innings while striking out 3 batters and allowing 0 walks. The RedHawks got the scoring started in the 3rd inning when Payton Bontrager hit a sacrifice fly to score Kyan Miller after Miller doubled to lead the inning off. They were able to push another run across in the 4th inning Quinn Shreiner Landes drove in Colton Rapp on an RBI single to put the RedHawks up 2-0. Northridge tied the game up in the 4th on a 2 run homerun and then scored 3 in the 5th inning to extend their lead to 5-2. Karter Marcum hit an RBI single in the 6th inning to bring us closer. Unfortunately, the RedHawks were unable to tie the game up in the 7th and found their way on wrong side of a 5-3 game. They return to action on Friday when they travel to Warsaw to take on the Tigers at 5:30pm.
