The Goshen RedHawks were victims of cold bats when they lost to Wawasee by a score of 6-0. The game started on Friday night but had to be finished on Saturday evening after a weather delay. On Friday, the RedHawks and Warriors were in a scoreless tie through 2 innings when Wawasee was able to break the scoreless tie with a 2 run home run in the 3rd inning. They were then able to push another run across in the inning to take a 3-0 lead into the 4th inning. The game was suspended after the top of the 4th inning due to poor field conditions and was picked up on Saturday afternoon. On Saturday, the RedHawk bats still couldn’t get anything going. Jace Hershberger pitched for Goshen in innings 4-7 but got no help from the offense. Hershberger gave up only 1 earned run and struck out 3 batters. Braxton Cline tallied the only hit for the offense. The Goshen varsity baseball record falls to 5-8 (2-4 NLC) after the loss. They travel to Northwood on Monday to take on the Panthers in another NLC matchup. The game will start at 5:30pm and will be broadcasted on TV46 as the Game of the Week.
