RedHawk Baseball Drops Season Opener

The Goshen RedHawks opened the baseball season with a loss by the score of 5-1 to New Prairie on Monday night. New Prairie jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first inning and never lost the lead after. In the bottom of the 1st inning, Braxton Cline led the off with a single and was moved to 2nd on a bunt from Caelan Miller but was stranded at 3rd before the RedHawks could tie the game up. Kyan Miller took the loss for the RedHawks allowing 4 runs on 6 hits while striking out 6 New Prairie batters. The RedHawks lone run came in the 5th inning when Colton Rapp drove in Caelan Miller to bring the score to 5-1. The RedHawks offense was led by Braxton Cline and Caelan Miller. The pair tallied 4 of the RedHawks 5 hits on the night. Cline tallied a double and a single and Miller added two singles. Goshen will host Fairfield on Tuesday night at Phend Field. That game is slated for 5:30pm.
