The Goshen RedHawks are headed to their 4th straight sectional championship appearance. A big thanks is due to senior Bray Hoag. Hoag helped the RedHawks roll past Elkhart by a score of 7-0 behind his 2nd no hitter of the season. Hoag pitched all 7 innings allowing 0 hits, 3 walks, 8 strikeouts and 0 runs. Hoag was dominant all afternoon setting Goshen up for a rematch against Concord who defeated Northridge in the early game in extra innings 3-2. Goshen got started early when Spencer Elliott reached to lead off the game on an Elkhart error. Braxton Cline walked and the two were bunted to 2nd and 3rd base by Jensen Meikle. Elkhart pitcher Max Shreiner balked to bring Elliott home to score the games first run. The RedHawks would lead 1-0 after 1 inning. Hoag got in some trouble in the 2nd inning with 1 of his walks and he hit an Elkhart batter but was able to strikeout Elkhart with 2 runners on base to end the threat. Bryson Wilson then led the 2nd inning off with a double followed by an RBI double from Hoag to help his own cause bringing home Wilson on the hit. Goshen took a 2-0 lead after 2 innings. The two innings were all the help Hoag would need on the day and the score would remain 2-0 until the 5th inning. The RedHawks were able to load the bases and score a run without a hit to start the inning thanks to 3 walks and a hit batter. Colton Rapp then hit a soft ground ball to short stop with the bases loaded and the throw came home, after a throwing error the RedHawks were able to score 2 runs to add to their lead. Bray Hoag then drove home 2 more batters with a 2 RBI single and Goshen saw their lead jump to 7-0 after 5 innings. Hoag would retire the next 6 Elkhart batters to finish the game. Goshen looks to earn their 2nd straight sectional title with Concord on Monday evening. The game will be at Goshen with the game set to begin at 6pm. Concord and Goshen split the series this season, each team winning a game when facing each other.
