The Goshen RedHawks improved to 17-5 (12-1 NLC) on Monday night with an 11-1 victory over the Wawasee Warriors. The offense got off to a slow start, but picked up in the middle of the game to end the game in just 6 innings. Bray Hoag started on the mound for Goshen and improved his season record to 4-1, pitching a complete game. Hoag pitched 6 innings allowing just 3 hits, 1 walk, and struck out 6 Warrior hitters. After the first two innings were scoreless, Goshen jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the 3rd inning when Jaxon Miller drew a bases loaded hit by pitch. Wawasee then tied the game up in the 4th inning with a 2 out single. The RedHawks grabbed the lead back in the bottom of the 4th inning when Bray Hoag grounded out to score Bryson Wilson. The RedHawks opened the scoring up more in the 5th inning. Deivis Freitez hit a 2 RBI single to score both Braxton Cline and Jaxon Miller to give the RedHawks a 4-1 lead. Manny Pizana then hit an RBI triple to bring in courtesy runner Brady Kwilinski giving the RedHawks a 5-1 lead after 5. The bottom of the 6th saw the Goshen offense explode. Braxton Cline hit a towering 3 run home run over the left field fence to extend the lead to 8-1. After a few walks and hit by pitches, Bryson Wilson singled to score 2 runners and bring the score to 9-1. Manny Pizana then walked it off with a 2 RBI single to give Goshen the 11-1 win via the 10 run rule in the 6th inning. The evening was led by Braxton Cline and Manny Pizana who each earned multiple hits and 3 RBIs on the game. Goshen wraps up NLC play on Wednesday night when they host Northwood for senior night that begins at 5:30pm.
