The Goshen RedHawks baseball team improved to to 6-2 (2-0 NLC) on Wednesday night with an 11-1 victory over Warsaw in 6 innings. Bryson Wilson pitched all 6 innings on the mound for Goshen allowing just 1 run on 4 hits, 2 walks, and 5 strikeouts. Wilson also delivered the games final RBI when he hit a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 6th to give Goshen the 10-run rule victory. After getting the Tigers to go 3 up and 3 down in the first, the Goshen offense got started right away in the bottom of the 1st inning. Spencer Elliott hit a line drive single to right field on the first pitch he saw and then stole 2nd base and 3rd base on the next few pitches. Elliott scored when Colton Rapp singled with 2 outs. Rapp scored on a triple from sophomore Jaxon Miller and then scored on a wild pitch. After the first inning the RedHawks were up 3-0 and didn't turn back. Warsaw did score their only run in the 2nd inning when they ran a double steal with runners on 1st/3rd to bring the score to 3-1. The RedHawk offense answered back in the bottom of the 3rd when Jaxon Miller was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to score Jensen Meikle. After another bases loaded walk to Bryson Wilson and a pitching change, Manny Pizana hit a bases loaded ground ball that turned into a fielder's choice scoring another RedHawk runner. Karter Marcum then drove home Jaxon Miller on a sacrifice bunt. After 3 innings Goshen had a commanding 7-1 lead. Wilson continued to keep the Warsaw offense limited on the evening, spreading out hits and not allowing many base runners. Goshen added to their lead in the 5th inning after another sacrifice bunt from Marcum to score Miller for the 2nd time in the game. Manny Pizana scored on a wild pitch on the next batter. Braxton Cline then drove in Brady Kwilinski on a 2 out single bringing the score to 10-1. Goshen added the final run they needed in the 6th on the Wilson sacrifice fly. Goshen will continue NLC play tomorrow, Thursday April 23, with a 5:30pm game at Mishawaka. That game was moved a day earlier due to questionable weather forecasts for Friday night. JV will play a game after the varsity game at Mishawaka.
